The Derby Recreation Commission is accepting applications for Fall 2024 Internships.
Students majoring in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Management, Marketing, Personal Training, and related fields are encouraged to apply for an internship with the DRC.
We offer a well-rounded internship to students who are seeking hands-on experience in all aspects of operating and managing a community recreation environment.
Our seasoned professionals across all aspects of the commission will work with you to apply your learned knowledge and skills to all facets of our diverse business operations.
Internship
Responsibilities:
Spend time in all program areas as well as activity areas.
Oversee programs and marketing of multiple programs and special events.
Observe, supervise, and evaluate program offerings.
Become familiar with, and have a working knowledge of, the DRC budget.
Attend required meetings or functions, assigned.
Conduct business research functions, as assigned.
Job Details:
Approximately 30-40 hours/week, depending on university/intern coursework requirements.
A biweekly stipend of $300 during the internship period.
Internships span 10-20 weeks depending on student and university requirements.
Free individual DRC membership for interns during internship term.
Two (2) positions are available.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
